World-Wide Terrorists
O.k., so we have Al-Qaida being bad in a country besides the USofA. Germany holds its national elections Sunday, now mindful of warnings by Islamic militants and Al-Qaida and the Taliban that Germany’s presence in Afghanistan is unwarranted and unwanted. The warnings represent a tangible threat against top German landmarks, including Munich’s up-coming Oktoberfest. Air flights over the celebration site have been banned until the end of the 16 day festival. My question is this: When will the free world stop tolerating these extremists and take strong eliminative action? But, wait … action is exactly what the extremists want! If they are killed in this twisted Jihad, they will see the virgins more quickly. We need wisdom to deal with these religious fanatics who care nothing for political conversation.
Dem PACs fortunes are seeing a downturn this year as donors are talking with their wallets by reducing, by about 20%, from previous donation amounts. And, these withholdings are mostly from large donors. And, I’m guessing, most large donors are somehow connected with either the financial industry or the health care industry. BTW, Rep donations are up approx. $1.7mn in the same time period. It may be that this is a portend of things to come in the upcoming state 2010 elections for House members and Senators. If so, look for a more balanced Congress beginning in Jan of 2011.
Did anyone really expect that government would not get bigger with all the new programs to monitor? Here is the first of the bunch. In the House, a resolution was attached to the Legislative-branch appropriations measure, the only bill so far that has escaped from House-Senate negotiations. It will allow government agencies to continue to operate until the real budget for 2010 is passed. The CBO got a 2 percent funding boost, which includes 12 new employees to analyze the Health bill. It’s only the pre-beginning … the beginning hasn’t started yet.
On this day in history: 1580 – Sir Francis Drake circumnavigates the globe; 1820 – Daniel Boone dies; 1945 – First American soldier killed in Vietnam
On a positive note: BofA and Chase will no longer charge excessive fees for overdrafts, altering their policy to not charge for OD’s less than $10 in one day, up to 4 items. Sounds good, but who would write 4 checks less than $10 as a “whoops”? Still, a positive step for big banks.
Blessings.
