Who’s To Blame?

We’ve heard of all sorts of people or events to blame for the Health Care Bill delay. Now another speaks up. Health Secretary Kathleen Sebelius blamed delays in passing the measure on President Obama having to spend “far too much time talking about what’s not in the bill” and trying to counter “wild accusations” by Republicans. You know that she wouldn’t blame the content of the Bill for the delay, right? Notable for what it doesn’t speak to, among other things, is government funding of abortion, which has language in two different sections of the Bill.

Our Declaration of Independence observes:  “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. — That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, — That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.” The italics are mine.

The question is: does election of an official categorically and irrefutably authorize political decision-making as he/she sees fit? I’m really dismayed that the Media and Congress are putting so much pressure on Toyota. All of the major manu’s have announced recalls lately, but, of course, Media isn’t noticing them. Might it be that Toyota has the market share and some are attempting to influence it downward so people will buy American? It’s the “Trash the Toyota” government bailout program.  On Mar 3, Nissan announced 600k recalls for brake problems. Where’s the beef?
