Party of Me

New Testament Biblical principles outline the differences between being “outwardly-focused” (thinking of the welfare of others) and “inwardly-focused” (I, me, mine, myself, etc.). To be outwardly-focused is not how mankind is wired. Consider Eve. However, Jesus came to be outwardly-focused on our spiritual welfare, and encouraged us to be outwardly-focused on the welfare of others. No “me, me, me” from Him, eh? So what am I trying to segue’ to? To take a clue from the label “Party of No”, the Dems have become a “Party of Me”. Think about it. No, I’m not demonizing the Dems, just pointing out that they are inwardly-focused.

The Health Summit. Many in the panel were focusing on what they themselves want. Many were not. Our country needs the outwardly-focused persons in our representative positions. Oh, think I’m being hyper-conservative? O.k. How can one say (with conviction, even) that they are fulfilling the obligations of their office when they are so focused on what they want: success, a win, victory, a legacy … even at the expense of their re-election? Ah, because they are inwardly-focused. If they were truly thinking of We the People, they’d heed what we (70% of us, at least) are saying, “We do not want the current health care bill”. If the Reps are the “Party of No”, then the Dems are the “Party of Me”. Yes, I’m serious.

They want to “win” so badly that they may even try the “reconciliation” process; said process used 17 times in the last 20 years by both parties, but more by the Reps, and then to get things like judges approved. Never has it been used on such a grand and impacting scale. Many think that there are not enough votes in either the House or Senate to make this happen. If they try it and don’t make it, their careers are essentially finished. Not that that idea will sway them. We need to start over with all ideas … and a few fresh ones … on the table and negotiate thru them; negotiating to an end being the operable idea.

The meeting yesterday gave the Dems a 3-1 time benefit, including Prez O’s time. Prez O’s time was more than for all the Reps combined. And, at the end, Prez O gave an ambiguous reference to the Reps ideas indicating that he may consider some of them. He may consider some of them, but he cannot be the considerer. Only the Congress can be the considerers; it’s not his to consider. He may consider some of them, but it’s not likely. So, yesterday’s Health Summit was really the Health Plateau. We got nowhere higher in our efforts. That bothers me no small amount.

I’m considerally disappointed in Sen. John McCain, R-AZ, for his harping on things past. This is just old school. Senator McCain (and others like him), need to swallow their bile, let go of the past, and focus on the here-and-now … and the future. It’s the high road. Take it.

On this day in history: 1919 - Grand Canyon National Park established; 1993 - World Trade Center is bombed; 1949 Lucky Lady II begins world’s first around-the-world, non-stop flight

On a positive note: An Israeli archeologist, Eilat Mazar, said Monday that ancient fortifications recently excavated in Jerusalem date back 3,000 years to the time of King Solomon and support the biblical narrative about the era. This is a painful revelation for some who claim that the King David dynasty, and subsequently the King Solomon dynasty, is a myth. No myth, my friends. Jesus was a direct descendant of King David, of the tribe of Judah, so those who do not ascribe to Jesus would naturally not want verification of the Davidic geneology, thus supporting their attempts to debunk the Foundation of Christianity. Not gonna happen.

Blessings.
