Global Cooling?

Posted by Alan Stanley on Sep 29, 2009 in September '09

Global warming? Where’s Al Gore when you need to yell at him? By all counts, the Kyoto Accord has failed. Why? There is no global warming, so it’s hard to get excited about preventing or limiting it. The UN is meeting in mid-November to hack out a new accord. Or, at least they’d like to, but nature is not cooperating. First, average global temps are not rising at the emergency level of 3.90C annually, but at a modest 1.40 annually, 2) we are in the seventh consecutive year of global cooling, 3) Antartic sea ice is at a record high, and 4) no significant increase in sea levels are observed in the last four years. In addition, CO2 levels continue at half which the IPPC model suggested, with China pledging to reduce factory emissions by 25% in the next 10 years. So, no global warming to talk about. I’m curious how that meeting will go. For more, go here: http://canadafreepress.com/index.php/article/15223#When:12:42:11Z

Ok, so, we expect candidates to wax splendiforously eloquent when running for office, right? But, do we expect them to outright lie? Well, no. Do we expect them to have hidden agendas? Well, maybe. Do we expect them to be flexible and to mold themselves to the real world after taking office? Well, we’d better. Do we expect to be taken for suckers? NO WAY! Prez O promised no new taxes to the lower earnings Americans. (I’m not using “lower class” ever again … after all, they are showing their class.) So, now, in a myriad of ways, new taxes are being planned and probably implemented. But, we’re calling them anything except taxes.

For example, the fine for a person not procuring health insurance under the Health Care Plan … $3500 or so … is called a penalty and not a tax. George Stephanaplous confronted Prez O in an interview and read to him the definition of a tax. Prez O vehemently opposed connecting the definition to the penalty. Then there’s Cap and Trade, whereby excess costs are passed to us; again, not a tax. Then there’s the “no drilling for oil” decision which gives $2bn to Venezuela to explore for oil which they will sell to us at twice what we could manufacture it for; again, not a tax. No new taxes? Why does my wallet not believe you? For more, go here: http://canadafreepress.com/index.php/article/15223#When:12:42:11Z

On this day in history: 1888 – Mercedes-Benz is the first import to America; 1907 – Gene Autry, “Oklahoma’s Yodeling Cowboy” is born; 1913 – Rudolf Diesel, perfector of the diesel engine, dies

On a positive note: Jane Bockstruck, of Swanzey, NH, celebrated her 92nd birthday exactly like President George W. Bush celebrated his 80th … by sky-diving. Maybe she’s also celebrating surviving her 7th marriage? Good on you, Jane!

Blessings.
