Dinner and a Show

Posted by Alan Stanley on May 31, 2009 in May '09

Let’s see how much press this gets: Prez  and Mrs. O flew to NYC Friday night for dinner and a show. Hasn’t he heard what happened to Lincoln? Didn’t he recently criticize the heads of the auto industry for flying their corporate jets to Washington for meetings? To give him the benefit of the doubt … I’m sure that he paid for the tickets and dinner out of his own pocket. I’m sorry; I couldn’t hear you …

Wikipedia has banned self-serving edits from IP addresses of The Church of Scientology. This is not a religious freedom issue; they ban any edits which are self-serving. It’s an “I own the site and I don’t like self-serving edits” issue. Wikipedia attempts to remain “neutral”, however they interpret that. Some “Wikifiddlers”, those who are not employed by Wikipedia, but who edit content, are criticizing the crackdown as fettering their voices; in other words, a freedom of speech issue. Balderdash! If one does not play by the rules of the established etiquette of the game, then one is disqualified. Simple as that.

GM dumps Opel/Vauxhall, right? Not so fast, Bucko. The final deal is Magna=20%, Sberbank=35%, Opel employees=10%, and … hold onto your Stetson, GM=35%. So, it’s mostly off-loaded. Of course, because you and I own 75% of GM when it comes out of BK, in reality, you and I own 26.25% of Opel of Germany. Some good news, at least: you and I are not guaranteeing any of the deal beyond our stake.

On a positive note: When is ingesting worms a good thing? When you honor your agreement. A teacher did the honorable thing when her students exceeded their testing goals. For more, with video, go here: http://www.gnn.com/article/teacher-eats-worms-to-inspire-kids/500891
