Congress is Broken
The “Super Committee” has failed. Did anyone … ANYONE … expect it to produce results other than a stalemate? I say no.
Well, wait. In one ugly twist of viewing the outcome of the Committee, there is an outcome. Prez O got his debt ceiling increase while managing to snow the entire world with his plan for the Committee, all the while knowing it would fail. But, he didn’t care, since he will use any means to get what he wants. The broken Congress must begin to look up from their laps and their personal interests and ideologies, and begin to consider the current condition of our country and how it may be bettered.
There is bravado from the Right about killing the default penalties to Military and Medicare budgets. That may be possible since the penalties do not start until fiscal year 2013, which begins in October, 2012.
We Conservatives must vote as many Democrats out of office as possible in the 2012 elections. Not because Republicans are better people; not because Republicans have all the good ideas; not because Republicans … whatever. But, because we need fiscal conservativism in managing our Government. BTW, at various times in our history, Democratic ideas have propelled us admirably, but now is just not the time.
We need a sane approach to drilling for oil and other energy sources. That one singular act will create a plethora of jobs. Look at North Dakota. Not only will it produce jobs, trickling down from the drill site to the end-user, but it will ease our energy dependence on others. The GDP will increase, along with the production of energy. The delaying of the Can-Am pipeline will cost us jobs and oil; China will buy all the Canadians can produce and ship. What’s wrong with this picture? Oh, I know that you environmentalists are overjoyed; because there will be more people out of work watching the trees bud, bloom, and fade away to fall. Happy, Happy.
With a nearly all-new crop of legislatures, we may be able to pull off the recovery of the centuries. Let’s at least give it a try.
On this day in history:1877 - Thomas A. Edison, a capitalist and entrepreneur, invents the phonograph; 1980 - 350mm people tune-in to find out who shot J.R. Ewing: 1927 - Holland Tunnel appears on Time magazine. (BTW, none of these would have been possible without capitalism being prevalent.)
On a positive note: From the Contra Costa Times: “IRVINE - A new type of metal that is 100 times lighter than Styrofoam has been invented by a team of Southern California researchers, UC Irvine officials announced. A photo of a small cube of the new metal, sitting atop a dandelion fluff but not weighing down on it, was released Friday by the UC Irvine, Caltech and Hughes Research Labs scientists who invented it.” This would not have been possible without capitalism being prevalent. http://www.contracostatimes.com/california/ci_19370312
Blessings.
